Did the new name for Comcast Telecom Services work like XFINITY?

There’s still an annoying amount of cross-branding (like the “Comcast Xfinity” reference you’ll see from time to time), and most people don’t seem to know the difference between the two.

Despite the fact that it’s been over a decade, and things are generally slow, there was initial controversy over the new title. There were several reasons for this. At first, it didn’t work very well. It then seems to confuse the user instead of clarifying the issue.

Second, Comcast contemplated rebranding in an effort to move away from the negative image associated with the Comcast brand. Comcast is notorious for terrible customer service. In fact, a thriving Internet community has developed around the phrase “Comcast Sucks.”

Rumors that Comcast created Xfinity to shut down bad broadcasts have never been verified, and the company has promised to improve customer service across the country.

History

In 1963, Ralph J. Roberts and his brother Joe sold their shares in Pioneer Industries, a menswear manufacturer in Philadelphia. The two wanted to create a new venture and were surprised to learn that American Cable Systems (ACS), a small company based in Tupelo, Mississippi, was being sold by Jerrold Electronics. They evaluated the company with professional accountant Julian Brodsky and Jerold’s former systems manager Daniel Aaron. The four concluded that the company showed a promising opportunity despite having five channels and only 1,500 customers.

Business was slow in town, so in 1964 he moved to East MS. Further sales were then made to Okolona and Baldwin in 1965. The number of employees increased, but they could not afford the cost of establishing the system at both locations. Over the decades, team members expanded to Pennsylvania and Florida. In 1969, they decided they wanted a name that reflected the technology hub, so they used the words “communications” and “music” to form Comcast Corporation. They also reunited businesses in Pennsylvania.

The country continued to expand from Michigan to Kentucky. The company grew its customer base to 40,000, but was still vulnerable. In 1972, Roberts officially took Comcast public to raise money for future expansion. The move was successful and eventually paid off. In 1998, it underwent its first transformation by acquiring American Cellular Networks, a mobile company operating in New Jersey. The next big step came in 1996, when Comcast acquired its stake in At Home Corporation to launch the @Home Network – an unlimited 24-hour internet access modem.cable to… Comcast’s three games (cable, telecom and internet) were born.
